'It's not just random trolls': Source of Seibold rumours to be unmasked

The source of the vile Anthony Seibold rumours will be unmasked in the next 24 hours - and it isn't any random troll.

Seibold's lawyer Dave Garratt will receive a report from European cybercrime experts either on Monday evening or early Tuesday.

"It's quite unexpected. It's not just random trolls," Garratt said.

"The (cybercrime experts) wouldn't even know who the Brisbane Broncos are. They're just following this stuff online but it's quite amazing what they can do."

Once the report is in Garratt's hands, Seibold will decide whether to pursue criminal action or if he will opt for the defamation path.

"They're just letting things run at the moment," Garratt said.

"There is a lot of activity online at the moment so the guys are watching that. They're watching people and by this afternoon or early tomorrow we will have a road map as to where we go from here."

Garratt said the likelihood of every person who forwarded the messages or spread the rumours being prosecuted is low.

"It's more about who made up these lies and where it went from there," he said.

"Average Joe sitting in his basement, police aren't going to be knocking on his door. But where it started - that's the important stuff for us."

Seibold sourced Garratt's advice and paid for it with his own money in an effort to put a stop to the vile rumours.

He missed the club's loss to Canberra after being placed in a COVID-19 hold when he stayed in Sydney for personal reasons last weekend.
