Xiaomi's Redmi has added to its list of devices by announcing its first-ever gaming laptop, the Redmi G. The company has launched the device as its first gaming notebook. The laptop brings with itself a distinct design, and a spec sheet to match even the most powerful laptops available in the market right now.
The laptop has been announced to bring up to 10th-generation Intel Core i7 processor paired to a dedicated Nvidia graphics card and a really fast display rated to refresh at 144Hz. Redmi has announced the laptop in multiple configurations and single colour. The laptop's design has a sporty look, which will be easily recognizable by gamers.
Redmi has announced that the laptop will come with a 16.1-inch full-HD display that can refresh up to 144Hz. The display is also claimed to cover 100 percent of the sRGB colour space for improved visuals. This panel can also max out at 300 nits of peak brightness and brings 1000:1 contrast ratio with support for DC dimming. There are very minimal bezels on the display which is claimed to offer 81 percent screen to body ratio.
In terms of the core specifications, the Redmi G comes packing up to 10th-generation Intel Core i7-10750H CPU with six cores and 12 virtual threads. For graphics, there's an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU. The memory on board is 16GB of DDR4 RAM running natively at 2,933MHz while storage maxes out at 512GB nand memory routed over a PCIe x4 NVMe lane.
The laptop is cooled by dual fans which are supplemented by three copper heat tubes, a copper cooling module and four exhausts. Connectivity options on the device include dual band antenna Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, Gigabit wired network, a USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports.
For battery, the laptop gets a 55Wh pack that is said to last up to 5.5 hours with local 1080p video playback. In terms of dimensions, the Redmi G measures 264.47x373.44x24.35mm and weighs 2.5kg.
The laptop has currently only been launched in China. It is available in three configurations with each sporting 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. However, they differ in the CPUs powering them. The base variant of the device is powered by Intel Core i5-10200H CPU and also only gets a 60Hz display. This variant is priced at CNY 5,299. The mid-variant with Core i5-10300H CPU and 144Hz display is priced at CNY 6,299. The top-end Core i7-10750H variant with 144Hz display is priced at CNY 6,999.
