Facelifted 2022 BMW X3 Should Look Very Similar To Current Model

A facelifted BMW X3 is just around the corner, and these renderings give us a good idea of what it will look like.

The current X3 has been in production for roughly three years and in recent months our spy photographers have spotted a handful of prototypes in the midst of testing. While they sported camouflage across both the front and rear fascias, these renderings strip it away and show what changes have been made. As is common with mid-cycle refresh models from BMW, the alterations are minimal.

The most obvious point of difference between the facelifted X3 and the current model are slightly more angular headlights, somewhat similar to those of the X5. Elsewhere, the renderings show simplified air intakes up front and what appear to be the same horizontal daytime running lights as the outgoing model.

At the rear, the new X3 will sport tweaked taillights that have the same overall shape as the current units but new LED graphics. In addition, the updated SUV in these renderings from Kolesa has a more muscular rear bumper than the pre-facelift while also ditching the simple two round tailpipes in favor of two large rectangular ones.

BMW is not expected to make any powertrain modifications to the 2022 X3. Consequently, it will continue to be sold with a range of petrol and diesel engines plus at least one plug-in hybrid. Continuing to top out the range will be the X3 M that’s powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six which is good for 473 hp in standard form and 503 hp in Competition spec.
