Four art teachers from the city were witness to the attempt.COIMBATORE: A city student has drawn a floral doodle on 6,055 sqft of paper in around 13 hours and 30 minutes, in an attempt to set a world record.
R Monisha, a final year B Com student at a city college, says she took up the initiative to create a new record in floral doodling, after seeing an earlier record for the biggest drawing by an individual, set by the Scottish artist Johanna Basford, who drew floral doodles in 5,381 sqft in 12 hours, in November 2019.
Monisha said she started around 7.30am on Saturday and finished filling the 6,055 sqft paper with floral doodles in 13 hours and 30 minutes. “The rules allowed a 10 minute rest for every two hours. I used 15 acrylic paint markers and paper from 100m rolls, taped to the ground, to finish the task,” she said.
Four art teachers from the city were witness to the attempt. The event was filmed and submitted to the Guinness World Records, they said.
P Nandakumar, an art teacher, and one of the witnesses, said in the record by the Scottish artist, the doodles had only outlines. But Monisha had included detailing in her work. “So it took her more than 13 hours to complete. Though she couldn’t break the earlier record, she has attempted to set a new record,” he said.
In January this year, Monisha entered the India Book of Records by drawing portraits on 50 eggshells in one hour, 31 minutes and 59 seconds.
