As Malaysians carry on enjoying “Cuti-cuti Malaysia” by exploring domestic destinations at the time of the recovery phase of movement control order, here tourism players are requested to continue providing attractive tourism packages.
As things started moving towards a better phase, Tourism Muar, an association that has over 50 members and about 30 affiliates, is boosting its members to take positive measures that would attract more visitors to the state.
Association secretary, Chua Teck Boon explained that the tourism industry of Malaysia was impacted badly because of the pandemic and the situation was not different in Muar like any other place in the world.
To quote Chua Teck Boon, “While there is no big jump in numbers, we are happy that visitors are gradually coming in, which is good for the local businesses and tourism industry. There are vibrant partnerships and tie-ins among tourism players such as hotels, food and beverage outlets and service providers in efforts to promote Muar’s tourist attractions as a whole. The shared prosperity is a positive sign for the ecosystem.”
Chua mentioned that among Muar’s famous attractions, which was popular for its royal town status, was the huge variety of appetizing food like mee bandung, otak-otak, asam pedas and coffee.
He also explained that heritage trails were popular as well while durian lovers would be pleased to find the D13 durian, which was well-known to Muar, in abundance.
“Tourism Muar will continue its role to promote the local tourism industry and at the same time, disseminate information to the local players through webinars to help them move forward in these challenging times,” he said.
