COVID-19: Pune to surpass 1.25 lakh mark soon

The total number of Covid-19 patients in Pune district is inching towards 1.25 lakh cases and this number is likely to be surpassed in the next two days

Pune: The total number of new Covid-19 cases reported on Saturday (August 15) in Pune district were 2,432. This includes the highest number of 1,177 cases in Pune city. As a result, the total number of Covid-19 patients in Pune district is inching towards 1.25 lakh cases and this number is likely to be surpassed in the next two days.

The highest number of new Covid-19 patients has been found in Pune city followed by 963 in Pimpri-Chinchwad, 259 in Zilla Parishad, 73 in Municipal Council area and 64 in Cantonment Board areas.

Out of the total 62 deaths reported on Saturday, 27 deaths are from Pune city alone. Other 19 deaths were reported from Pimpri-Chinchwad, 11 were from Zilla Parishad, 4 from Municipal Council areas and one from Cantonment Board area. The number of new Covid-19 patients and patient deaths is from 9 pm on August 14 to 9 pm on August 15.

The total number of patients in Pune district till date is 1 lakh 22 thousand 397 and the number of patient deaths is 2 thousand 957. This includes 79 patients from outside Pune district.

The total number of patients is 72,576 in Pune city, 34,447 in Pimpri Chinchwad, 9,732 in Zilla Parishad area, 2,954 in Municipal Council areas and 2,688 in Cantonment Board areas. Meanwhile, 2,176 patients have recovered from Covid-19 disease in the last 24 hours. As a result, the number of Covid-19 free patients has gone up to 93,565.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has ordered 50 thousand antigen test kits for rural areas of Pune district. Maximum cases have been reported from industrial and urban pockets of Pune district like Haveli, Khed, Maval, Shirur and Purandar taluka. Pawar has also directed local administration officials to enroll private hospitals in the district in the 'Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana' (MPJAY) scheme which would benefit all Covid-19 patients.
