MANGALURU: Noted entrepreneur, social, religious leader and founder chairman of B A Group, headquartered at Thumbay, Dr B Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen passed away in a private hospital here on Sunday. He was 89. He is survived by wife, three sons - Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, B Abdul Salam, MD & CEO, BA Group and B M Ashraf, MD, Mohiudeen Wood Works UAE) and daughter Mariam Shabana Faizal.
Born on June 18, 1933 to Haji Mohiuddin Cheyyabba and Mariyammara, he got his basic education at Badriya Education Institute and at Ganapati High School. After graduating in Commerce in 1954, he began his career as a small-scale industrialist in a village called Thumbay . He founded the B A Group in 1957.
Mohiudeen was the president of the Badriya Educational Institutions, which is over 80 years old, and also Nav Bharat Night High School, established pre-Independence. He was one of the trustees of Islamic Academy of Education, under Yenepoya Group. A former member of the Adult Education Society, he was a syndicate member of Mangalore University.
