Covid-19: Gujarat adds 1,120 new cases, 20 deaths in 24 hrs

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday added 1,120 new positive cases, taking the total to 78,783. It is the state’s highest tally in four days as the state again breached 1,100 cases mark.
The positive cases include 228 from Surat, 164 from Ahmedabad, 108 from Vadodara, and 99 from Rajkot. With the update, Ahmedabad has crossed 29,000 cumulative cases at 29,089, whereas Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot have 16,829, 6,382, 3,272 cumulative cases.
The state also recorded deaths of 20 positive patients, taking the total to 2,787. The deaths include eight from Surat, four from Ahmedabad, two each from Bhavnagar and Morbi, and one each from Gir Somnath, Kutch, Patan and Vadodara.
Surat district now has 551 deaths and Vadodara 111. Cumulative deaths in Ahmedabad and Rajkot are at 1,659 and 66 respectively.
A total of 959 patients got discharged in Gujarat in 24 hours, taking the total to 61,496. The discharges include 336 from Surat, 174 from Ahmedabad, 69 from Vadodara and 64 from Rajkot.
With the update, the state has 14,500 active cases, that consists of 18.4% of cumulative cases in Gujarat. Share of discharged and deceased patients in the state is now at 78% and 3.6% respectively.
Gujarat carried out 50,560 tests in 24 hours, taking the total to 13.12 lakh. According to the state health department officials, the state is carrying out 778 tests per day per million population. As on Sunday evening, Gujarat has 5 lakh persons under quarantine, out of which 4.99 lakh are under home quarantine and 829 under facility quarantine.
