Representative imageKOTA: Six people have been arrested after an illegal drug manufacturing unit was busted in Rajasthan's Baran district, police said on Sunday. Acting on a tip off, police raided the house in Devri Mund village on Saturday morning. A total of 1.9 kg of opium, used to manufacture smack, 11 litres of liquid containing opium, chemicals and other substances have been recovered, an officer said.
The suspects managed to destroy a large quantity of manufactured smack by washing it off into a drain on the arrival of the team at the spot, Harnawada Shahji police station incharge Ramswaroop Meena said.
The six were booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and were produced on Sunday before a court that ordered for a five-day police custody, the officer said.
Baran police has launched a WhatsApp helpline and mobile number of the district special team in-charge for the people to pass on information on illegal drug manufacturing, Assistant Superintendent of Police Vijay Swarnkar said.
