Gujarat in 24 hours added 1,094
Covid-19 cases, taking the total to 77,663. It was the third consecutive day for the state to record less than 1,100 cases. The cases included 234 from Surat, 162 from Ahmedabad, 107 from Vadodara, and 95 from Rajkot.
With the update, the cumulative cases in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot districts have reached 28,925, 16,601, 6,274 and 3,173 respectively.
The state also recorded deaths of 19 positive patients, taking the total to 2,767. The deaths include nine from Surat, three from Ahmedabad, two from Vadodara, and one each from Gir Somnath,
Junagadh, Mehsana, Morbi and Rajkot. Deaths in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot are now at 16,55, 543, 110 and 66 respectively.
A total of 1,015 patients got discharged in 24 hours, taking the total to 60,537. The discharges include 367 from Surat, 188 from Ahmedabad, 74 from Vadodara, and 51 from Rajkot.
With the update, the active patients in Gujarat are now at 14,359, which is 18.5% of the total cases registered so far. Share of deceased and discharged patients is now at 3.6% and 77.9% respectively.
Gujarat carried out 51,217 tests to find new cases, taking the total to 12.62 lakh. According to the state health department officials, the state is carrying out 788 tests per day per million population now. It is the third consecutive day for the state to carry out 50,000-plus tests in a day.
As on Saturday evening, Gujarat has 5.01 lakh persons under quarantine, out of which 5 lakh are under home quarantine.
