MUMBAI: Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MB-MC) special general body on Thursday passed a resolution to give 50% rebate on house tax and an interest waiver on outstandings in view of Covid-19. The relief will be only for those who pay taxes and outstandings by October 31.
The video-conference meeting was held to pass the 2020-21 revised budget of nearly Rs 1,842 crore. Then civic chief Chandrakant Dange had presented a draft budget of Rs 1,634 crore on March 15. The standing committee revised it by another Rs 178 crore. The general body meeting was delayed due to lockdown. BJP, with 61 of 95 corporators, passed the resolution to give 50% rebate to those paying house tax by October 31. Dhruvkishor Patil (BJP), who moved the proposal, said the rebate will be only for house tax, which should not be mistaken for property tax.
