Coronavirus update: The coronavirus cases in India jumped to 25,89,682 with 63,489 new infections on Sunday as the country became the third most affected by the pandemic in the world. The death toll crossed 50,000 mark with 944 deaths in 24 hours, according to Health Ministry.
India has been reporting over 60,000 cases daily since August 7, barring August 11 when it registered 53,601 new infections. Five most affected states by total tally count are Maharashtra (560,126), Tamil Nadu (326,245), Andhra Pradesh (264,142), Karnataka (203,200), and Delhi (150,000).
Coronavirus world update: The global caseload from the pandemic stands at 21,592,595 with the United States being the most affected country. Meanwhile, Russia has begun production of the first batch of vaccines against Covid-19, its health ministry said in a statement. The vaccine was created by the Gamaleya Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology.
