TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan after unfurling the national flag on SaturdayHYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday said the independent functioning of legislature, executive, judiciary and media, the four pillars of the democracy has become a matter of debate under the BJP and TRS governments at the centre and the state respectively.
After unfurling the national flag at Gandhi Bhavan, the party headquarters here Uttam said the previous Congress government since independence to 2014 made a continuous effort to further strengthen the independent functioning of the four pillars of the democracy.
“But after 2014, the central and the state government are trying to weaken the four pillars of democracy. The people at large have doubts over the independent functioning of legislature, executive, judiciary and media presently,” Uttam said.
Stating that thousands of people sacrificed their lives, education, personal, social, professional lives to earn freedom for the country, the TPCC chief said the Congress has a great legacy of sacrifices and selflessness.
“But atrocities against SCs, STs, minorities, BCs and other weaker sections of the society are on the rise since 2014. The Congress party was founded on the principles of social justice and it always stands by these deprived sections of the society. The Congress will continue to fight for justice to these weaker sections,” he said.
