Mira Rajput Kapoor may be all of 25, but the mother-of-two has honed a classic style sensibility that is well beyond her years. It’s hard to miss her penchant for timeless, fail-safe silhouettes in soft prints and colours—always a case of girly-girl elegance spruced with studied sophistication.

Take her favourite lehengas for instance, starting with her wedding wardrobe—a yellow Benarasi Anita Dongre creation for the sangeet and a blush pink Anamika Khanna hand embroidered lehenga for the big day. Then there’s the cream Anjul Bhandari set in chikankari work, a handcrafted classic by Anju Modi and a burgundy velvet lehenga with a tunic blouse by Dongre (she even walked the runway for the designer with husband Shahid Kapoor in 2018, dressed in an all-white lehenga with pink floral print). It’s almost as though Rajput Kapoor is collecting an heirloom with every piece. The same goes for her choice of kurtas and anarkalis. Need proof? The bandhini print Punit Balana anarkali she wore for Diwali last year and the floral print Debyani + Co and SVA Couture floor-length kurtas worn with statement earrings.

But make no mistake, Rajput Kapoor’s repertoire is not a case of ‘no play’ either. For a touch of whimsy, she turns to ruffles in standout colours to do the trick, as has been seen on more occasions than one—the hydrangea blue Jade by Monica & Karishma ruffled sari, the neon blouse and scalloped sari by Aisha Rao, the fuchsia pink one-shoulder jumpsuit by Ridhi Mehra, and the onion pink Manish Malhotra sari worn with a ruffled halter blouse.

And if that fails, there’s always a good old black sari—Rajput Kapoor has been spotted in versions by Tarun Tahiliani, Shantanu & Nikhil and Anamika Khanna. In fact, for Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s reception, the trendsetter wore an embroidered white blouse and black A-line skirt with a draped dupatta and matching belt by Khanna, rounded off with polki jewellery.
