Vikram JoshiGHAZIABAD: Police have filed a 2,000-page chargesheet against all 10 accused in connection with the murder of journalist Vikram Joshi.
SSP Kalanidhi Naithani said that the investigation had been completed and the chargesheet submitted to the Ghaziabad court.
On July 20, Joshi, 35, a journalist with a local newspaper, was assaulted and then shot in the head by local goons in Mata Colony of Vijay Nagar when he was returning home on his bike with his two daughters. Joshi was rushed to a hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on July 23.
A sexual harassment complaint that Joshi had filed accusing two of the accused, Ravi and Chhotu, and two others of molesting his niece was suspected to have been the trigger. While Ravi and Chhotu, along with seven other accused - Akash Nath, Shakir, Mohit, Dalveer, Abhishek Saroj, Balmiki and Jogendra - were arrested, a tenth accused, Akash Bihari, went absconding after the attack. He was arrested on August 5.
A senior police officer said investigation revealed that Joshi 's family had filed a molestation complaint, in which it said that the accused had molested his niece on July 16 but the concerned officer did not take any action.
"They also alleged that even on the day of the incident, the matter was reported on the phone by Vikram to the SI of the area, but he took no action citing his health condition. After this, both the SHO and the SI were suspended," he added.
