Independence Day 2020: India is celebrating 74th Independence Day today. This year's celebrations are a severely restricted affair both in the national capital and across the country because of the coronavirus pandemic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers tweeted their greetings to the nation.

"Happy Independence Day to all fellow Indians. Jai Hind!": Prime Minister Modi tweeted. 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, wrote, "Warm greetings to every Indian on the occasion of 74th Independence Day."   

"Congratulations to the countrymen on 74th Independence Day...Salute the great freedom fighters, whose sacrifice made the country free," said Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

The Indian Air Force tweeted a beautiful video and wrote, "Extends warm greetings to all on the occasion of India's 74th Independence Day. Jai Hind."

"Today we salute the sacrifices and courage of innumerable freedom fighters and take inspiration from them and pledge to make the country powerful, self-reliant...," posted Union Minister Piyush Goyal. 

"Greetings on the occasion of 74th Independence Day. We shall continue to work together in the making of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. (self-reliant India." 

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarindder Singh in a video message on Twitter said, "As we all get together to celebrate the 74th Independence Day, let us all pay tribute to the sacrifice of our freedom fighters who gave away their present for our better future." The Chief Minister has special words of praise for the armed forces of India, guarding the borders in tough circumstances.
