Angoda Lokka COIMBATORE: Sri Lankan don Maddumage Lasantha Chandana Perera alias Angoda Lokka had possessed a paistol during his stay in Coimbatore city, stated Crime Branch -CID police.
Lokka died on July 3 due to a cardiac arrest. Following the postmortem in the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), his body was taken to Madurai by the lawyer Sivakami Sundari, who posed as his relative, and Amani Dhanji, 27, of Colombo and Lokka's flatmate in Coimbatore city. The duo handed over the pistol to Lokka's accomplice. The CB-CID is trying to trace Lokka's accomplice
In a press note issued on Saturday night, the CB-CID stated lawyer Sundari and her friend Dhyaneswaran of Tirupur had forged documents and obtained an Aadhaar card for Angoda Lokka under the name of Pradeep Singh, son of Rajkumar Singh. Lokka used this card to show as proof to government officials and to rent houses.
Lokka stayed in an apartment at Saravanampatti, Coimbatore city as Pradeep Singh since 2018. He moved to a rental house at Green Garden at Cheran Maa Nagar this February. Amani Dhanji moved in with Lokka in March.
Peelamedu police inspector T Jothi arrested Sivakami Sundari, Dhyaneswaran, and Amani Dhani for fabricating documents and hiding Lokka's identity. The CB-CID took over the case.
The case has prima facie against the arrested persons under the Indian Arms Act and Foreigners Act. The trio was produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court on Saturday. The CB-CID investigation officer sought ten days of custody of the trio and based on the court's direction, further action will be taken and the investigation is on.
Later, Amani Dhanji and Sivakami Sundari have been lodged in the special prison for women in Coimbatore and Dhyaneswaran was lodged at a sub-jail at Perundurai in Erode district. Amani Dhanji will be taken to Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, Sivakami Sundarai filed a petition before the CJM court, seeking conditional bail and the petition is to come up for hearing on August 19.
