Telangana CM KCR reviews flood situation, Control rooms set up

HYDERABAD: With several rivulets and streams flowing to brim due to continuous rains Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has put the revenue and district administration on high alert. The CM spoke to the chief secretary, director general of police and ministers and asked them to monitor the situation 24x7 as some districts are receiving heavy rains. He instructed the officials to set up two control rooms in Hyderabad.
According to the chief ninister’s office (CMO), he asked the ministers to camp in their respective districts and coordinate with district collectors and superintendents of police on the flood situation.
The CM said since several tanks were filled to the brim, they may breach, roads may be inundated and low-lying areas may be flooded. He said the erstwhile Karimnagar and Warangal districts have recorded the highest rainfall and tanks in these districts are filled to their capacity. The CM said officials should be more alert in these two districts.
Following the instructions from the CM, the officials have kept two helicopters ready and they will be utilized to rescue people who are stranded during the flood. Along with the helicopter owned by the state, one chopper from the military is also kept for use.
