Telangana judiciary making great strides in taking courts to doorsteps of people

HYDERABAD: Turning the current crisis into an opportunity, the Telangana judiciary is making quick moves towards turning its functioning from physical mode to online functioning.
Close on the heels of the high court that is far ahead of most of the states in the country in successfully running all its benches through online mode in the last five months, the district courts too are following suit.
They are taking the district courts in a mobile van to the doorsteps of litigants and lawyers in several districts. These mobile vans are equipped with video conference facilities and their inner view resembles a courtroom.
These mobile vans are being arranged with the help of district collectors to assist those lawyers and parties in person who cannot afford to possess computers and internet at their homes to argue their cases through videoconference or online mode, A Venkateswar Reddy, HC's registrar general said. Warangal, Karimnagar and Nizamabad courts had already equipped themselves with fully equipped vans to take district courts to the door steps of the lawyers and litigants.
On Saturday, two more districts, Adilabad and Mahabubnagar too acquired these vans. In Adilabad, the facility was inaugurated by principal district judge Indira Priyadarshini, as part of the independence day celebrations. Out of the ten judicial districts in the state, half of the districts have already equipped themselves with the mobile van with video conference facility. And by the end of August, the remaining districts too will be provided with the facility and that would enable the state's judiciary in achieving great strides in dispute resolution, the registrar general said.
