Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan (File Photo)THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan along with few of his cabinet colleagues have gone under self-quarantine.
The decision was taken after Malappuram district collector K Gopalakrishnan tested positive for Covid-19. He had accompanied the chief minister and his team during their visit to the air crash site at Karipur. The Malappuram superintendent of police has also been tested positive for the infection.
Even though governor Arif Mohammad Khan had also visited Karipur with the chief minister, it is learnt that he had not come into direct contact with the district collector.
Apart from the chief minister, health minister KK Shailaja, revenue minister E Chandrashekaran and local self-government minister AC Moitheen have also gone under self-quarantine.
Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan also visited the Karipur air crash site. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and a team of other UDF leaders had also visited the site.
As the CM is under self-quarantine, he will not be attending the Independence Day parade at the Central Stadium on Saturday. Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran will hoist the national flag at the parade.
