Police are searching for a man who went missing on a jet ski in Moreton Bay overnight, making radio contact with him but unable to locate him.

The search began about 10.45pm on Thursday night, when police were told the man had not come home, and his car and trailer were still at the boat ramp car park.

Poor weather conditions have hampered police in their search but it continues across land, sea and air with the Polair and QGAir Rescue 500 helicopters, and water police.
