New Delhi: The ministry of new and renewable energy has extended the deadlines for projects under construction, and will now issue a blanket extension of five months following disruption due to the Covid-induced lockdowns.
"This blanket extension, if invoked by the RE developers, will be given without case to case examination and no documents/evidence will be asked for such extension," said the ministry's notice.
Earlier in July, an official notification had set March 25 to May 31 as the official dates for the lockdown. It said it would grant project deadline extensions to cover the 68-day period, along with an additional 30 days to help developers overcome any difficulties in restarting their operations.
However, various developers told the government they required more leeway to get projects back on track as some states had extended lockdowns for varying periods.
