12 celebrity couples who are welcoming babies into their family in 2020

Don't get us wrong, 2019 had some very exciting celebrity baby arrivals. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced the birth of their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6, and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds celebrated the arrival of their third daughter last year too, who according to Taylor Swift's new album, has been named Betty. 2020, you may agree, has been different from the past year in a whole lot of ways, but even a pandemic can't take away from the joys of parenthood. This year, some of the world's most loved couples have grown their families by one, or are just on the brink of it. With our social media feeds over the past few months brimming with baby announcements, now is as good a time as any to get you up to speed. Get ready for a strong dose of cuteness.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend 

Taking cue from Katy Perry, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen announced that they are expecting their third child together through Legend's latest music video, ‘Wild’. It's at the end of the video, which shows the couple driving in a convertible and running on a beach, that the duo stand together at the ocean's edge and Teigen puts her hands on her stomach, revealing a tiny baby bump. Post the release of the video, Teigen took to Twitter to confirm the news to much excitement. The stars are already parents to Luna and Miles.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan 

The newest entry to the list of Bollywood babies in 2020 is Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan's second child. The couple confirmed that they are expecting a child together on August 12, 2020, and said, “We are very pleased to announce that we are expecting an addition to our family!! Thank you to all our well wishers for all their love and support.” The Bollywood couple are already parents to one boy, Taimur Ali Khan. Due to the ongoing pandemic, Kapoor Khan may end up spending most of her pregnancy at her home in Bandra. However, one thing is for sure: Kareena Kapoor Khan's maternity wardrobe is bound to brim with breezy kaftans, her favourite at-home ensemble. 

Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Raj Kundra

Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Raj Kundra surprised their Bollywood fans earlier this year when they announced the arrival of their second child, a baby girl. Born on February 15, 2020, Samisha Shetty Kundra was born via surrogacy and recently celebrated her first Raksha Bandhan with her older brother, Viaan Raj Kundra. “I had honestly given up on the thought of another child,” Shetty Kundra revealed in a recent interview, where she spoke about her experience with surrogacy. “After Viaan, I did want to have another child for the longest time. But I suffered from an auto immune disease called APLA and that came into play every time I get pregnant.”

Nataša Stanković and Hardik Pandya 

The latest addition to the babies of 2020 is Hardik Pandya and Nataša Stanković's little baby boy. The couple welcomed their first child together on July 30, 2020, just two months after officially announcing that they are expecting a child. The Indian cricketer proposed to Nataša Stanković back in January 2020 and according to reports, they tied the knot in a small ceremony at home in 2020. 

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's daughter, Willa, was born on July 22, 2020. The couple decided not to reveal any details about the pregnancy to the public, but were spotted out and about in their neighbourhood in Los Angeles several times during Turner's third trimester. Not only did Game of Thrones notice the mom-to-be's growing baby bump, Turner's fuss-free, totally relatable maternity style took over feeds everywhere too. From baby doll dresses to biker shorts and comfy hoodies, the actor's maternity closet had it all. 

Georgia Groome and Rupert Grint 

Leaving all Harry Potter fans feeling pretty aged, Rupert Grint and longtime girlfriend Georgia Groome became proud parents to a baby girl in May 2020. This news came just a month after the couple confirmed they were with child. Since then, the new parents (plus pram!) have been seen making pit stops to grocery stores, and taking walks around their neighbourhood with the latest edition to their family. 

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita

Back in January 2020, just at the cusp of the coronavirus pandemic, Jesse Tyler Ferguson revealed on The Late, Late Show with James Corden that he and husband Justin Mikita were expecting a baby. Sharing details, the Modern Family star revealed, “Actually, this is something I haven’t even mentioned to anyone, if we could just keep it between the three of us and you all… but I’m actually expecting a baby in July with my husband.” When Corden asked Ferguson if he knew whether the baby was a boy or a girl, the comedian replied saying he was expecting “a human.” The duo welcomed their baby boy, Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita on July 7, 2020. 

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom 

On March 4, 2020, Katy Perry released a music video for her song 'Never Worn White' and surprised her fans by revealing the big news in an ivory off-shoulder dress that fell ever-so-perfectly over her baby bump. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom got engaged in February 2019, but the couple have been together since late 2017. While the couple's soon-to-be-born baby girl will be Perry’s first child, she will be Orlando Bloom’s second baby. The actor shares his 9-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr. 

Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty

Pregnancy announcements have become quite a trend of late. One can never forget Beyoncé's maternity pre-baby shoot, which topped trending charts all over the world. Following suit, Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to share a cheeky photo of her baby bump and the news that she and husband Kenneth Petty were expecting their first child together. Photographed by Alex Loucas, the snapshot saw the mom-to-be dressed in true Minaj fashion. A fan of more-is-more, the musician smiled into the camera wearing a multicoloured Swarovski crystal detailed bikini by Lacey Dalimonte, platform heels, and strings of diamonds, along with canary yellow locks. Talk about impactful.

Lea Michele and Zandy Reich

Glee star Le Michele married boyfriend Zandy Reich in March 2019 in an intimate ceremony in Northern California, which was also attended by Michele’s Glee pals Darren Criss and Becca Tobin, as well as her Scream Queens co-star Emma Roberts. A year later, Michele announced that she's expecting her first baby on Instagram, and has been constantly updating her fans during the pandemic with social media posts that show her growing bump. 

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik

On-again, off-again couple Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik made thousands of fan cross their fingers in hope when they stepped out together in January 2020 dressed in matching pistachio green outfits in New York. Come April, the news about the duo expecting their first child together was confirmed, and according to reports, their little one will arrive in September 2020. Although the couple have refrained from sharing images of one another on Instagram, Hadid broke the rule last week with a sweet picture of herself giving Malik a kiss with a simple, but very clear caption: “Baby daddy.”

Katherine Schwarzenegger and Chris Pratt 

Katherine Schwarzenegger, the eldest child of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Chris Pratt, married last year in California, and announced their pregnancy in April 2020. Enjoying this time at home, Schwarzenegger revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she is having fun in the kitchen while quarantining and is learning how to cook too. The cooking keeps her “calm in this crazy time,” she said.
