Haryana assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta
CHANDIGARH: All those entering the Haryana assembly premises during the monsoon session will have to carry the Covid-negative certificate issued by health authorities between August 24 and 26, the speaker's secretariat said on Friday.
Notably, the decision is consequent to the request by Haryana’s home and health minister Anil Vij who called up speaker Gian Chand Gupta on Friday afternoon. Vij had urged Gupta to ensure Covid test for all those attending the session.
According to information, all the MLAs, ministers, officials, media persons and those associated with proceedings of the assembly session will have to undergo the Covid test. The person shall have to furnish the certificate of Covid test which should be mandatorily issued two to three days ahead of commencement of the assembly session.
"We have already communicated this to all the MLAs, ministers and council of ministers, administrative secretaries of the government of Haryana as well. Protocol staff too have been informed about the same. For us safety of all tops our priority list,’’ said the speaker.
Meanwhile, the speaker has also called the meeting of officers of the assembly secretariat as well as officers of Haryana government for the purpose of finalising the seating arrangement.
According to preliminary arrangements, it is learned that the Haryana government has been asked to prune the list of officers too who would be attending the session. While besides making arrangements for MLAs of ruling party and opposition party in main hall, the officers have planned to use Speaker gallery as well as audience gallery for MLAs.
