The Regional Offices have been directed to implement this decision immediately. The task of collecting household waste in the city has been given to Swachh Seva Sahakari Sanstha. For this, a five-year agreement has been signed with Swachh Sanstha. According to the agreement, garbage collectors will be charged Rs 70 per month for houses, Rs 140 per month for commercial establishments and Rs 50 per month for slum dwellers.
Accordingly, the Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner has approved the recovery of this fee by the waste collection officer in the current year. The municipality has made solid waste management regulations. According to the revised rules, waste sorting is mandatory.
Currently, it has been found that wet, dry, and organic waste is being given to the person collecting it in mixed form. Those who litter on the streets will be fined Rs 180, those who litter in public places will be fined Rs 150 and those who urinate will be fined Rs 200.
Action will also be taken against those who throw radar at rivers, streams, canals, and ghats and those who burn plastic and other materials will be fined Rs 200 or Rs 500.
Societies, hospitals, nursing homes, educational institutions, offices, hotels and others, which generate 100 kg of waste per day, are required by law to dispose of waste in their own premises. However, notices were issued by the regional office as the decision was not being implemented.
