FAKE ALERT: Photos from Delhi riots passed off as that from Bengaluru violence

CLAIM
A Facebook group by the name of ‘KASHMIR NEWS FAST’ posted two images of rioting mob to claim they were from Bengaluru where Muslim mob recently unleashed violence on the streets angered over an allegedly inflammable post against Islam's Prophet Muhammad.

The images were posted with a text that reads, “Voilent Clashes erupted in Bangaluru Over Post Of BJp MLA's Son insulting Prophet Muhammad (Saw) 60 Cops Injured 2 Civillians MarTyred Section 144 Imposed (sic)”.
Similar claims were made using the same photos by several other Facebook pages.

TRUTH
The photos are from riots that rocked Delhi in February 2020. They have nothing to do with Bengaluru mob violence.
VERIFICATION AND METHODOLOGY
Using reverse-image search, we traced the photos in their actual context.

A post dated February 25, 2020 from The Federal carried the same image with a caption that reads ‘Protestors hurl brick-bats during clashes between a group of anti-CAA protestors and supporters of the new citizenship act, at Jafrabad in north-east Delhi’. The photo is credited to news agency PTI.

A post dated February 26, 2020 from the Business Insider India carried the same image with a caption that reads ‘Violent clashes over India's new citizenship laws continue in Delhi's Northeast districts for a third day as the Delhi High Court hears social activist Harsh Mander's petition against hate speeches by BJP leaders inciting violence’. The photo is credited to news agency IANS.

VERDICT
Times Fact Check has found that photos from Delhi riots earlier this year are being circulated with a false claim that they are from recent violence in Bengaluru by a Muslim mob.
