Congress Minister Invokes Akbar's Defeat | Rajasthan Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal, during the debate on the motion, blamed the Centre for trying to "topple" the governments in Madhya Pradesh, Manipur and Goa, using money and power, but said a similar attempt in Rajasthan would not succeed. Referring to Akbar, he said the Mughal emperor had to taste defeat in Mewar of Rajasthan during his quest to expand his empire. Similarly, BJP's attempts to topple the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government were defeated, he added.

Event Highlights
Former deputy CM Sachin Pilot, who returned to the Congress fold this week after meeting the Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, said the party is now united and has '107 of us here'. Referring to his meeting with the Gandhis, he said he "consulted a doctor in Delhi and was back now."
Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan Assembly: You had questioned the government over its performance in the last one and a half years. I am particularly disappointed over the comments made by you on out fight against the coronavirus pandemic. You should have at least listened to the Prime Minister who praised Rajasthan's efforts to tackle the pandemic. We did not promote the Bhilwara model, it gained national significance on its own.
"Today, the trust vote in Rajasthan has brought a "new light" to the darkness prevailing in many corners of the democracy. Today, the "belief of the limitless possibilities" in the development of 8 crore citizens of Rajasthan has defeated hatred, negativity and despair," Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala writes on Twitter.

Sachin Pilot on Trust Vote: Today in the Assembly, our government has cleared the trust vote by a huge majority. A lot of rumours have been laid to rest through our united show today. I am sure that the Congress high command will, in a time-bound manner, roll out the roadmap and dealt with issues raised by us appropriately. The Opposition tried to unsettle us by highlighting issues like my seating arrangement. It is a non-issue. Till my last breath I will work for Rajasthan.
Congress Has Shown Its MLAs are Together: Pilot | As the Gehlot-led Congress government inRajasthan wins the trust vote, Sachin Pilot says, "Congress has shown that its MLAs are together. It is not important where we sit in the Assembly. The seating arrangement was done by the Speaker. I don't want to comment on that." He adds, "Have faith and all our concerns will be dealt with satisfactorily."
Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan Assembly: You [BJP] toppled the government in Madhya Pradesh. The CM was taking oath in the middle of the Covid-19 outbreak. People were taking out rallies, and you see what has happened. Coronavirus crisis went out of control. You wanted to do something similar in Rajasthan.
Governor's Post Has Lost Dignity: Gehlot | The post of the Governor has lost its dignity. Don't provoke me or else I will be forced to share what transpired between the Governor and I. I think the Governor was under pressure. A hundered editorials have been written about the situation in the state after the Governor returned the file on the state government's wish to convene an Assembly session. The job of the Governor is no more than asking to prove majority in the House: Gehlot in Rajasthan Assembly
Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan Assembly: I am 69 years old and I have been in politics for 50 years. As the CM of Rajasthan, I am worried about the state of our democracy. When the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat government was in power in the state, there was a plan to topple it. As the then PCC chief, I met the Prime Minister and the state Governor and refused to be part of the plan to bring down an elected government.
Gehlot Speaks in Assembly | Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot speaks in the Assembly. He says that the Prime Minister and other states should be inspired by Rajasthan. "Many times there are political differences in the country, in your party (BJP), it happened during Vasundhara Raje's regime," he says. He adds that there was no tradition of phone-tapping in the state. Training guns at the opposition BJP, he says, "What you did in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Manipur. You have no concern for whether democracy is in danger. Only two poeple are ruling."
Sachin pilot continues, "(Satish) Poonia made comments about me. I want to tell them that I, my work style, my work, my colleagues, and what we discuss within the party, leave it to us. Today's session is about trust vote. I don't want to interrupt anyone's speech. Whether I was pained by anyone's statement or not, leave it to me. It will be better if we discuss issues facing this government."
RECAP | Nineteen Congress rebels, including Pilot, had revolted against Gehlot, posing a threat to the Congress government in Rajasthan. Congress removed Pilot as the deputy CM and as the state chief of the party on July 14 but also sent many feelers to Pilot. Tensions simmered between the two leaders when Gehlot had called his former deputy "nikamma" (useless) and had accused him of playing a part in toppling the government.
RECAP | The political crisis in Rajasthan Congress ended on Monday after a meeting of Pilot with Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi. The rebel MLAs later met top Congress leaders and were assured that their grievances would be redressed in a time-bound manner. Congress president Sonia Gandhi also announced the formation of a three-member committee to hear the grievances of rebel leaders.
Ahead of the floor test, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said it would be "a victory of truth" during the assembly session that began on Friday. The Congress government had said Gehlot will seek a vote of confidence after the opposition BJP said it will move a motion of no confidence against it. However, the BJP on Friday decided against moving a no-confidence motion against the Gehlot government.
BJP Opts Against No Confidence Motion | The BJP did not move a no-confidence motion in the Rajasthan assembly. The BJP said on Thursday that it would move a motion of no confidence in the Rajasthan assembly against the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government. The key decision was taken in a BJP legislature party meeting held yesterday.
After the month-long dramatic tiff between Sachin Pilot and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the deputy CM has been pushed to seat number 127 from the government benches in the front row in the assembly. Now he has been allotted the second row in the extreme left. "When I came to the Vidhan Sabha today, I wondered why I was sitting right on the corner next to the oppositions benches. Then I realised this is the border and I have been sent to the border," he said.
Sachin Pilot Quips on Seat Number 127 | As the Congress and the BJP trained their gusn at each other during the debate over the motion of confidence in the Rajasthan Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot quipped about his new sitting arrangement. "Why I am on the border as far as seating is concerned..Why am I sitting next to the opposition? It is because it's the border, and only the bravest and most powerful warrior is sent to the border," Pilot said.
Deputy leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore says, "the public has been seeing the drama unfold in Rajasthan over the past one month. The actors, heroes, villians are all from one party. People of Rajasthan bore the brunt of factionalism within the party. Gehlot himself said for 1.5 years he did not talk to his deputy Chief Minister. How can the government function smoothly like this? How can a party indulge in 'Elephant trading' level allegations of horse trading at us? Did you not surreptitiously effect the merger of all BSP MLAs?"
