A 41-year-old father and his young daughter have been killed in a horrific head-on crash with a bus.
The Tasmanian father and daughter's sedan collided with the bus on Algona Road at about 8.30am on Thursday in Kingston, south of Hobart.
Police Inspector Jason Elmer said witnesses rushed to the pair's aid but both died at the scene.
'There was certainly a very severe impact between the bus and the sedan involved,' he said.

'It was a traumatic scene and for people to come forward and help. We appreciate the assistance that was provided.'
The driver of the private bus, which had no passengers, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One other driver who was caught up in the smash was transported for assessment.
The road, which police said was busy at the time of the crash, remained closed for much of the day before reopening at 6pm.
