Two die as trucks collide in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: A truck driver and a cleaner died after a speeding tanker truck collided head on with their vehicle on the L&T Bypass in Coimbatore in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased truck driver has been identified as V Veerasamy from Tirupur. The cleaner was yet to be identified, the Chettipalayam police said.
The accident happened when the duo were returning to Coimbatore from Kerala.
The tanker truck was carrying soap oil. Its driver, Sekar, 40, of Mettur in Salem, escaped with injuries. He was admitted to a private hospital in Sundarapuram.
The police sent the dead bodies to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. They registered a case against the tanker truck driver.
