KOLKATA: The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) on Thursday launched a quick dengue response team that will take dengue prevention measures in all the KMDA housing schemes and markets across the city.
The team along with three vehicles which would be used for conducting awareness campaigns, was inaugurated by state urban development minister and KMDA chairman Firhad Hakim.
Three quick response teams have been formed that will be divided to south Kolkata, North Kolkata and Chetla area. The teams will take up vector borne disease prevention work including spraying of larvicide, fumigation, conducting public awareness regarding prevention of vector borne diseases by using public address system installed in the vehicles and to clean the compound of the KMDA housing schemes and markets by removing the rubbish
The teams will conduct the dengue prevention measures for the next three months and the authorities are also planning to introduce a Whatsapp facility where people can inform if there is any stagnant water or rubbish seen to be piled up in any of these places.
