Himachal Pradesh's leader of opposition Mukesh Agnihotri attacks CM Jai Ram Thakur over flouting of social distancing norms

SHIMLA: On the issue of flouting social distancing norms, leader of opposition Mukesh Agnihotri on Thursday attacked chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. Agnihotri said that earlier Jai Ram Thakur was preaching people of state to maintain social distancing but later he himself started flouting it. He said that when Congress leaders were holding protest demonstrations cases were registered against them, while no action has been initiated against BJP leaders for violating social distancing norms. He said now BJP leaders, ministers and their staff members are being tested positive for Covid-19 and in a way now it is “BJP government-sponsored Corona” in the state as they are no following social distancing norms and busy holding public events across state.
While addressing media persons in Dharamshala on Thursday, Mukesh Agnihotri said that earlier public money was wasted on holding virtual rallies and now foundation stones are being laid by coming out on roads. He said that only foundation stones are being laid under BJP regime while in actual nothing has been started on ground.
He said that BJP government has failed to handle Corona pandemic. He said that government collected huge funds during Covid-19 pandemic but till date has failed to give the details where this amount was actually spent. He said that hospitals are in bad condition but government has failed to improve their condition. He said that BJP government is going to complete three years in power soon and chief minister should tell what strategy he has for the development of state.
He said that state is witnessing rise in suicide cases while incidents of gang rape are also increasing. “Leave aside discussing these issues, state government is not even issuing statements,” he said, adding that chief minister comments on the opposition but neither chief minister nor his ministers comments on the prevailing situation of state. He said that government tell the truth about the resignation of Rajeev Bindal as state BJP president.
He said that chief minister should also tell the truth of why the departments of ministers were changed. He said that unannounced emergency has been imposed in the state.
