The Demon might be dead, but it’s possessed the 2020 Challenger SRT Super Stock which is billed as the “world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car.”

Set to go on sale later this year, the high-performance coupe will cost $79,595 which makes it $3,000 more expensive than the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody.  Of course, that’s before you factor in the destination charge and the gas guzzler tax.

Technically a package, the Super Stock is based on the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody and features an adaptive-damping sport suspension and revised gearing. The package also includes Brembo brakes and 18-inch wheels wrapped in Nitto drag radials.

The most notable change is a “revised powertrain calibration” for the supercharged 6.2-liter V8. It enables the engine to produce 807 hp (602 kW / 818 PS) and 707 lb-ft (959 Nm) of torque. That’s 10 hp (7 kW / 10 PS) more than the Hellcat Redeye and 33 hp (25 kW / 33 PS) less than the Demon.

The engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and it enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.25 seconds. The model can also run the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds at 131 mph (211 km/h) and hit a tire-limited top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

According to FCA’s Tim Kuniskis, “The 2020 Challenger SRT Super Stock gives our weekend warriors the ability to upgrade to 18-inch drag radials without having to spend a ton of money on changing out brakes and suspension components.” He added, “The racing community has figured out very quickly that this package is a hot setup.”

While the Challenger SRT Super Stock won’t go into production until this fall, dealers will begin accepting orders later this month. However, it’s worth mentioning the Super Stock isn’t a limited edition and Dodge has already confirmed it will also be available as a 2021 model.
