A drug addict committed 26 crimes in 48 hours after going on an ice-fuelled bender.

Craig Anthony Mulry was taken into custody after a terrifying crime spree around the Gold Coast suburb of Southport on December 3.

But he will be out of jail by Christmas despite groping a woman, bashing a nurse and sending a bank into lockdown over the course of two days.

Mulry was sentenced to three years in prison over the offences at the Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday, reported the Gold Coast Bulletin.

But he was granted a parole release on December 3, 12 months after he was thrown in jail.

The spree began when Mulry grabbed a woman's breast at the Southport tram stop in the early hours of December 3 last year, the court heard.

He had approached her and asked to borrow her phone before touching her inappropriately.

Mulry then incited panic at the Commonwealth Bank in Southport, after demanding an explanation from tellers as to why he didn't have $46million in his bank account.

The bank went into lockdown after the encounter, with the addict assaulting two passers-by outside.

The Crown Prosecutor showed evidence of a serious assault on a nurse after Mulry was admitted to a hospital emergency department.

Judge Catherine Muir acknowledged the crimes were serious, but agreed drugs had played a role in his offending.

'It is obvious that you are a troubled man,' she said.

'It seems that it is this addiction to ice that gives some explanation, but is certainly no excuse for your offending behaviour.'
