Pranab Mukherjee Health: Pranab Mukherjee in a coma! 

The Army's Research and Referral (R&R) Hospital said on Thursday morning that former President Pranab Mukherjee is in a coma state. Mukherjee's position remains unchanged and he remains on ventilatory support.

The former president was admitted to R&R Hospital after testing positive for the coronavirus disease. He underwent brain surgery on Monday.

His son Abhijeet tweeted on Thursday and asked people to stop broadcasting fake news about Mukherjee's health. He said, "The fake news circulated by eminent journalists on social media clearly shows that media in India has become the factory of fake news."

Mukherjee's daughter Shamita also said that rumors about the former president should not be spread.

Mukherjee, 84, said on Twitter on Monday that he tested positive for COVID-19. Mukherjee went to the hospital for a separate procedure, tweeting "I request those who came in contact with me last week to isolate themselves and get the COVID-19 test done."
