GURUGRAM: In a 12-hour drama, a 35-year-old executive of a major automobile company in the city was allegedly abducted from a hotel where he had gone to meet a woman, held hostage in another and blackmailed for Rs 2 lakh with a nude video that his two abductors shot of him. He finally managed to escape by jumping out of the car in which he was being taken out of the city.
The two accused men, including an MCG employee, have been arrested on charges of kidnapping and extortion.
Police said on Saturday, the man, a senior engineer with Maruti Suzuki India Limited who lives in Garhi Harsaru, received a call from an acquaintance, a woman he had known for some time. After his office hours, he went to meet her at a hotel in Sector 49.
Around 11pm, the duo left the hotel but were stopped by the two accused and asked to sit in a car. The man’s car remained at the Sector 49 hotel. Police said one of the men was known to the woman, who was dropped off at her residence in Fazilpur. The man was taken to a hotel near Bus Stand, where he was kept hostage, beaten and forced to strip, after which the two men took a video, police added.
The next morning, the two men threatened to post the video on social media and demanded money from the executive, who called his brother to transfer Rs 2 lakh in his account. However, due to technical issues, he could not transfer that further to the account of the accused.
In the meantime, the two men brought the executive’s car from the Sector 49 hotel. In order to withdraw money from his account, they started off in search of an ATM at an isolated place that would be located well out of the city.
For this, they used his car. The accused drove along Sohna Road, and when they reached Badshapur, the car slowed due to a speed breaker. Taking advantage of it, the executive jumped out and called the police control room while the accused men fled with his car.
The executive said he had Rs 40,000 cash and some documents in the vehicle. On the basis of his complaint, a case was registered at the Sector 50 police station against the two men under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping), 383 (extortion) and 323 (causing hurt), police spokesperson Subhash Boken said.
Within a few hours, the two men, identified as Sahil Kamboj (26) and Aman (19), both residents of Sheetla Colony, were arrested.
Sahil works as a supervisor with the MCG. Police recovered Rs 30,000 cash and two cars, including that of the executive, from their possession.
Meanwhile, the woman, whose involvement in the abduction plot is suspected, has filed a rape case against the executive under IPC Section 376 (punishment for sexual assault).
