Crude oil gained more ground on Tuesday, with prices underpinned by expectations of US stimulus and a rebound in Asian demand as economies reopen.
Indian rupee is trading with marginal gains at 74.85 per dollar, amid buying seen in the domestic equity market.
It opened higher at 74.83 per dollar against previous close of 74.90.
At 11:34 IST, the Sensex was up 234.66 points or 0.61% at 38416.74, and the Nifty was up 58.10 points or 0.52% at 11328.30.
The dollar held overnight gains on Tuesday following seven weeks of an almost relentless fall as investors clung to hopes of a bi-partisan stimulus deal in Washington and US bond yields rebounded from multi-month lows.
