Mumbai University second merit list: Ramnarain Ruia, HR colleges release cut-offs

MUMBAI: The Mumbai University (MU) is going to release the second merit list for admission to undergraduate courses on Tuesday evening.
Once the merit list is released, candidates will be able to check it at Mumbai University's official website - mu.ac.in as well as on the homepage of respective college.
The second merit list for admissions to degree colleges affiliated to Mumbai University will be released by 7 pm. Aspirants will have to check individual college websites for the cut-offs.
As per the sources the Ramnarain Ruia College has already released their second cut offs. But only a few colleges are likely to release their second merit list on time while most are likely to get delayed.
It may be noted that due to covid-19 pandemic, the entire procedure of admissions in the university has gone online. Once the second merit list is released, candidates need to complete the documents verification and to pay the fee online till 3 pm on August 17, 2020. Thereafter, a third merit list will be released in the evening on the same day.
As per the first merit list the cut-offs in some colleges rose by up to 8%, they dropped by 4-9% in a few others.
Commerce and allied courses in top colleges saw a marginal rise in cut-offs and stayed out of reach for several 90% scorers, with a few even closing their first list above 95%. With admissions to professional courses such as engineering and medicine on hold, colleges also saw higher cut-offs in courses such as BSc-IT, computer science and biotechnology.
While the Covid-19 pandemic may not have impacted admission choices of students, principals said many who had planned to go outside Mumbai may have opted for city colleges. The total registrations also saw more than 25% rise this year.
First-list admissions to FYBA at Mithibai and KC colleges closed at 96% and Jai Hind at 95.7%-2.7% higher than last year. The cut-off at Ramnarain Ruia College was at 95.6%. At St Xavier's College, the cut-off in arts for non-HSC board was 98.6% while for the state board it was at 92%. At D G Ruparel College, it dropped to 88.6% from 98% last year. At Kelkar-Vaze College, too, arts cut-off fell to 86% from 90.8%. Wilson College, which had 85% cut-off last year, saw the entry score jump to 93.6%.
