RHA Mangaluru chapter will organize a food and mask distribution drive on August 15. MANGALURU: With pandemic snatching away bread money of hundreds of people in Dakshina Kannada, Robin Hood Army (RHA), Mangaluru will play a small part to give back to the society what it deserves on Independence Day.
It is a part of its #Mission30M initiative in India and across 10 countries (Bahrain, Botswana, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka) to serve staple food to under-developed rural pockets, orphanages, old-age homes, homeless people, ailing patients, and daily labourers across the country. The mission, which got underway from July 1, 2020, has already served 12.5 million meals across 143 cities and 9 countries in the first 33 days and is on the finale stage. This unique model of goodwill is also a Harvard case study.
RHA Mangaluru chapter will organize a food and mask distribution drive on August 15. The chapter of RHA will also celebrate its second anniversary on Independence Day with over 400 volunteers, majority of them are students. Dr Nupur Chauhan, the founder of this initiative remarks, “We had conducted 50 days of daily animal-feeding drives during complete lockdown and we are always looking for new opportunities to help the society. This new mission has us on our toes to deliver back, in our small way, to the families affected by the lockdown. As a healthcare professional in a district hospital, I have seen how the coronavirus pandemic has thwarted the livelihoods of many and I hope this ‘bag of hope’ eases the financial burden as well as the mask ensures safety for the public.”
She said that one can assist them to achieve this goal by donating dry rations such as rice and pulses. “A little act of kindness never goes unnoticed, so help them put a smile on someone’s face and kindness will definitely find its way back to you,” appealed Nupur.
