Google on Monday announced that it is relaunching the Google Maps for Apple Watch users. The search giant revealed that revamped Google Maps will be rolled out to the users across the globe in the coming weeks. The Google Maps support on Apple Watch would enable users to keep a track of their estimated time of arrival and also reach their destinations by following the step by step direction given by the app. For the unversed, Apple users had the Google Maps support till 2017 but it was taken down due to unknown reasons.

Google shared through a blog post that the new feature-packed Goggle Maps will let users navigate easily using the step-by-step direction which would include directions for walking, driving cycling, etc. The users will be alerted on their watch about the turns and traffic on the road so that they will not have to remove their eyes from the road to look at the GPS on their phones.

"When you're out and about, smartwatches help you stay connected and see essential information at a glance. With the Google Maps app for the Apple Watch, you can easily navigate by car, bike, public transit, or on foot. Quickly get estimated arrival times and step-by-step directions to destinations you've saved, like Home or Work, and other shortcuts you've designated in the app. For all other destinations, you can start navigating from your phone and pick up where you left off on your watch," Alan Rogers, Product Manager, Google Maps and Rubén Lozano-Aguilera

Apart from the Apple Watch, Google has now made the Maps available to the Apple CarPlay Dashboard, which means that Google Maps would now work on all CarPlay supported vehicles globally. "In the CarPlay Dashboard, you can now switch or pause songs from your favorite media app, rewind or fast forward podcasts or audiobooks, or quickly check calendar appointments without ever leaving turn-by-turn navigation in Google Maps. The information is displayed in a split-screen view so you can get the information you need while keeping your focus on the road," the blog by Google read.

On a related note, Google had launched an interesting feature for the Google Maps which allows users to follow each other on the app. This means that users will now have a separate profile page that will feature the pictures or a review of a place. The profile can be followed by other users who too are considering the places that have been reviewed by a particular user. Google has rolled out the feature for all users across the globe.
