BULANDSHAHR: Sudeeksha Bhati, daughter of a marginal farmer in UP's Gautam Budh Nagar district who had hit headlines after securing full scholarship to US college in 2018, died in a road accident in Bulandshahr district on Monday. A day after the incident, reports have emerged that she was being harassed when the accident occurred.
Responding to it, Bulandshahr SP (City) Atul Srivastava said," We were alerted that a girl named Sudeeksha on her way to her uncle's place with her brother died in a road accident. Brother of the deceased and witnesses at the spot told motorcycle with Subheeksha riding pillion rammed into a bullet after latter applied sudden brakes due to traffic. The girl fell on the road and died on the spot."
"At the time of incident, either brother of deceased or any witness did not alert us about any act of harassment. Further probe is ongoing," Bulandshahr SP (City) said.
The 19-year-old had returned from the US in June amid the Covid-19 outbreak pandemic and her return was due later this month. According to family, she was visiting Bulandshahr with her brother and the duo were on motorcycle when the accident took place in Aurangabad area in district on Monday evening.
A student of Bulandshahr’s Vidya Gyan school, she had topped the CBSE class XII exams with a score of 98% (in humanities) in the district and had received a full scholarship from the prestigious Babson College in Massachusetts, United States. Sudeeksha to pursue a four-year-long course in entrepreneurship education from the college.
