Bengaluru: Four held for performing wheelies

Delivery boy Vinay is known for such stunts
BENGALURU: Four youths, including two students, were arrested for performing wheelies and other motorcycle stunts on NICE Road near Kengeri on Sunday evening.
Police came across videos in their mobiles, showing the quartet had been doing such stunts for a long time. The accused are Chandan, 21, and Likhit, 21, of Hanumanthanagar, Suvant, 20, of Srinagar and Vinay alias Wheeling Vinay, 28, of Srinagar. Chandan and Likhit claimed to be students of private colleges, while Suvant and Vinay work as delivery boys with a food company, police said.
According to Byatarayanapura police, the four were caught red-handed on Sunday evening after a couple astride a two-wheeler called the police control room. “The couple panicked when the accused overtook their bike. They said one of the youngsters was about to ram their vehicle. We rushed to the spot and caught the accused,” police said.
More youngsters involved
Investigation revealed Vinay was famous for performing wheelies for half a km and had earned the sobriquet ‘Wheeling Vinay. “We checked their old videos and found they have more friends who’re into bike stunts. We will nab them soon,” police said.
The accused were booked under IPC Section 279 (rash and negligent driving) and Section 189 of the Motor Vehicles Act (racing and trial of speed, without permission).
Three youngsters aged around 20 had died while performing stunts near Yelahanka on June 21.
