Man and woman trapped in mud pulled to safety in late-night rescue

A man and woman who became trapped in mud on a riverbank were rescued during a late-night operation.

Emergency services were called out at around 9pm on Sunday after a man phoned 999 to say that he and a woman were stuck in the mud opposite Connah’s Quay Docks.

Metal detectorist finds hoard of Bronze Age artefects in 'significant' discovery

A metal detectorist has uncovered a hoard of Bronze Age artefacts which experts have described as “nationally significant”.

Mariusz Stepien, 44, was investigating a field near Peebles in the Scottish Borders with friends on June 21 when he found a bronze object buried underground.

Gyms and swimming pools are among the facilities that can swing open their doors to the public again from Monday.

The Welsh Government last week confirmed that gyms, swimming pools and indoor leisure and fitness centres could reopen once again today as lockdown easing continues.

Ex-boss of scandal-hit care home's 'ultimate shame and regret' over management

The former boss of a scandal-hit care home said she would apologise to every resident, relative and staff member if she could.

Nurse Jayne Jones was the registered manager of the Plas Y Bryn Nursing Home at Bontnewydd near Caernarfon when serious concerns were raised about the state of care at the home.

Children stranded on sandbank saved by RNLI with moments to spare

A group of children stranded on a sandbank were saved with just moments to spare.

RNLI volunteers from Moelfre in Anglesey were dispatched at 2.25pm on Sunday to help five children and one adult reported cut off on a “rapidly shrinking” sandbank, by the rising tide at Traeth Coch.

A spokesman said:

After a largely dry and bright start to the day, thundery showers will develop across the country, giving some torrential downpours in places and a risk of hail. A hot day with some brighter spells possible between the showers. Maximum temperature 27 °C.”
