BENGALURU: BBMP and police officials on Saturday conducted the last rites of a Covid-19 positive woman, a day after she died in her residence at JC Nagar in Kurubarahalli.
The 28-year-old woman’s cabbie-husband had left home earlier on Friday morning after learning that she had been infected. He did not return though the authorities called him several times to inform him about the death.
Mahalakshmi Layout police said the woman worked as a salesgirl in a Yeshwantpur mall. The woman and cabbie had fallen in love and tied the knot two years ago.
The woman had been diabetic and had BP for a few years. She recently visited a private hospital and underwent a Covid-19 test. The result that came out on Friday morning confirmed her infection. Her husband left home immediately after knowing this. She breathed her last the same night.
“The woman’s parents informed police and corporator M Shivaraju (Shankar Mutt ward). Soon, police and BBMP officials rushed to her residence. Her husband did not respond to their calls and later switched off his mobile. Officials conducted the last rites based on her parents’ request,” police said.
