Sola police nab trio who lured people by offering branded mobiles , laptops at very cheap prices
Three youths aged between 19 and 22 years who have cheated over a thousand people of Rs 18 lakh by luring them by offering branded laptops and mobile phones at highly discounted prices though a social media app were arrested by Sola police. The three sent QR coded messages to potential targets and made them pay advance of up to 50 per cent of the declared price. As soon as a person paid they blocked him.
The accused have been identified as Anish Jitubhai Joshi (19), resident of Everest Elegance in Ranip, the alleged mastermind, Vishal Khemchandbhai Sharma (19), resident ofDurgashakti Flats , near Chandlodia Lake, Chandlodia and Dhruv Sureshbhai Hingol (22) of Simandhar Residency, Silver Star crossroads in Chandlodia.
Modus operandi
The three had created channels on the mobile app Telegram in the name ofDark Web Carding , Safest Carding and Eyecare Hub and lured people by advertising high-end mobiles, laptops, LEDs and other gadgets at cheap prices through promoters across the country.
When the “preys” clicked on the links for the products, they interacted with them through messages and lured them with attractive prices on expensive products. They then asked them to pay 50 per cent of the agreed price through online payment modes such asGoogle Pay , Phone Pay and QR codes. Once their target paid, they blocked his number and stopped communicating with them.

Anish is a B Pharm from SAL College, Vishal a BSc from L J College, while Dhruv is an IT engineer from GEC. “The youths led a lavish lifestyle with frequent visits to high end cafes such as Star Bucks where they flaunted cash and paid enormous bills. They would pay bills of Rs 7,000 and upwards in cash and their lifestyle also became upscale. We received a tip-off about the three youth and rounded them up for questioning,” Sola Police Inspector J P Jadeja told Mirror.
