Tamil Nadu crosses 3 lakh cases with nearly 5000 cases; death toll crosses 5\,000
Chennai: The number of Covid-19 positive cases in Tamil Nadu crossed 3 lakh with nearly 5000 cases reported on Monday.
The State has witnessed 302,815 cases in all, the government media bulletin confirmed.
The death toll too crossed 5000 on the same day as 114 people succumbed to the infection.
On Sunday, 119 people died of Covid-19, the highest so far. The total number of Covid related fatalities in the state now stands at 5041.
State capital Chennai managed to continue its streak of remaining under 1,000 cases with 976 people testing positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
As many as 65141 people were tested on Monday. This comes after testing touched record levels on Sunday with 68179 being tested for Covid-19 on Sunday.
The number of recoveries were at 6037 on Monday, taking the total count of recoveries to 244,675.
Public worship in small temples in corporation areas -- that have an annual income of less than Rs 10,000 has also been permitted since Monday. Driving schools in the state too began functioning from Monday onwards.
