The Defense Minister said that the three armies awarded these goods under the 260 schemes between April 2015 and August 2020 for Rs 3.5 lakh crore. It is estimated that the domestic industry will get contracts worth about Rs 4 lakh crore in the next 6-7 years. The Defense Minister informed that steps will be taken to ensure domestic production deadline for military goods marked for a ban on imports. More defense equipment will be phased out to ban imports.
