Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar got a new high-tech cold storage facility for stocking tulip bulbs. Tulip Garden team has placed several samples to test the facility. Tulip garden in-charge Sheikh Altaf said, "This is high-tech cold storage. We have put samples on an experimental basis here."

Union Information and Technology Minister on August 10 informed that Very-small-aperture terminal (VSAT) have been installed at 200 locations for Digital Satellite Phone Terminals."In JandK, VSAT installed at 200 locations for Digital Satellite Phone Terminals, of which 183 are operational now. We will be providing satellite phones to our army personnel so that they can talk to their families from their post of duty," said Prasad.
Members of the Indian, Vietnamese and the Tibetan communities held a protest outside the Capitol Hill in Washington against China. The protesters were holding anti-China posters, urging people to boycott Chinese products. They shouted slogans against China's expansionist policies against their neighbours. Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, Russia are also victims of China's expansionist policies', said a protester Adapa Prasad. Members of Vietnamese community also lashed out against the Communist government of China and said that their fight is against the CCP and not the people of China. Prime Minister Narendra Modiinaugurated the first ever undersea optical fibre project for Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This will provide high speed broadband connections in the Union Territory at par with services in the mainland. PM Modi also said that this optical fibre cable project, connecting Andaman and Nicobar with the rest of the country is a symbol of our commitment towards ease of living. PM Modi added that tourists will get huge benefits from the optical fibre facility and thousands of families in the Union Territory will be able access education, banking, shopping or tele-medicine online and said that this in turn will open up more employment opportunities for people of the region. 'The Indian Ocean has been the centre of India's trade and strategic prowess for thousands of years. Now that India is following the new policy and practice of trade and cooperation in Indo-Pacific, the importance of our islands including Andaman and Nicobar has increased further,' said PM Modi. With several reforms are underway after Jammu and Kashmir received the Union Territory status, Government has taken another initiative in developing a 5.25 km road from NH-1A 46th Delina to Singhpora in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. This developmental process of road construction is being executed under Prime Minister Grameen Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) at the cost of rupees 443.65 lacs . The Union Territory administration has taken this step under Pradhan Mantri Gram SadakYojna (PMGSY) scheme, benefitting the people living in rural area in commuting.
