New Delhi: Former President Pranab Mukherjee tested positive for Covid-19 Monday.
He has been admitted to Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi.
In a tweet, Mukherjee urged people, who have come in contact with him, to self-isolate and get tested.
“On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for Covid-19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self-isolate and get tested for Covid-19. #CitizenMukherjee.”

There is no formal bulletin yet on his health status from the hospital.
Mukherjee, who is 86 years old, was the President of India between 2012 and 2017. Before that, he was among the senior-most ministers in the UPA government, widely credited to be the troubleshooter in the coalition.
Between 2014 and 2017, he had built a profile for the country’s highest office as the nation’s conscience keeper.

He has a history of hypertension and cardiac ailments. In 2014, while still in office, he underwent a coronary angioplasty procedure, also at the Army’s Research and Referral hospital.
