Project Power: Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt team up to take down superheroes

Project Power is an upcoming superhero movie starring Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Dominique Fishback in the lead roles. Directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, it is penned by Mattson Tomlin, who has also co-written the DC film The Batman with Matt Reeves.

Project Power revolves around a pill that gives superpowers to those who consume it. The power lasts for five minutes per pill and are unique to each individual. For instance, a particular person may get invisibility while somebody else may get invincibility. The catch is, one will not know what power they will get. You could also die instead of becoming a superhero.

The film is set in New Orleans. Foxx's character Art, a former soldier, is hunting for people who cooked up the formula of the pill. The streets of the city are becoming lawless due to the proliferation of the drug. Art teams up with Gordon-Levitt's cop, Frank, and a teenager, Robin (Fishback) to find the people who designed the drug and put an end to the chaos. Foxx's character may also have personal reasons behind taking down the bad guys.

The story of the film resembles the Amazon Prime Video's adaptation of the comic-book series The Boys quite a bit. Like in the Karl Urban starrer, in Project Power too, the protagonists team up to take down people with superpowers.

The trailer of Project Power revealed some great action and the dynamic of temporary superpowers also looks intriguing.

Project Power also stars Machine Gun Kelly, Rodrigo Santoro, Amy Landecker and Allen Maldonado.

Project Power will begin streaming on Netflix from August 14.
