After delivering several box office hits including Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011), Ishaqzaade (2012), Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) and Hasee Toh Phasee (2014), Parineeti Chopra is all set to feature in The Girl on the Train and Saina, two films on which the actor says she’s worked the hardest ever in her career. Chopra will also soon be seen in the black comedy Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar alongside Arjun Kapoor.

Over the past year, Chopra seems to have been just as busy when it comes to her off-screen life. The actor recently moved from her previous apartment in Khar West to a new home in Bandra, designed by Richa Bahl. Through her social media posts during this period of social distancing, fans have also gotten a few glimpses into Chopra’s new space—a modern, minimalistic and soothing haven, perfect for the star to unwind in after a long day’s work. “Parineeti wanted a home with simplicity and style, a home which is largely monochrome with hints of colour. I also wanted the space to look well-travelled, so we ordered a lot of art from European websites and bought a lot of knick-knacks from London,” Bahl told Vogue India in a recent interview. From Chopra’s black-and-white living room to her quaint balcony area, take a tour through the prettiest corners of the actor’s home below.

Step inside Parineeti Chopra’s monochromatic living room

While Parineeti Chopra’s Khar West home burst with colours and quirky elements, her new space dons a muted palette and minimal interiors. Three fluffy couches in neutral shades surround a low black leather coffee table, which often holds books and a decorative plate. The cushions, though mixed and matched, are also upholstered with fabrics in soothing neutral shades. An expansive white rug with a black criss-cross pattern covers the floor of the area. A round, sleek side table features in one of the corners, while another holds a tall lamp with a creamy shade. The highlight of the space has got to be Chopra’s floor-to-ceiling glass windows, which come with grid-like black panelling, allowing lots of sunshine to liven up this part of the home. “I managed to bring the outside view of the clouds, the greens, and the skyline into the living room which makes it look larger and balances the overall look and feel of the space,” shared Bahl.

Chopra's elegant living room happens to be Bahl’s favourite corner of the apartment. It also contains plenty of cosy nooks, according to the designer, such as a bar which always becomes a conversation-starter among the actor's guests, as well as a hidden projector screen which has a direct view from Chopra’s cosy seating area.

A sleek wooden table with classic carved wooden chairs on one side and a bench on the other features in Chopra’s dining space, which rests adjacent to her living room area. An edgy black cane lamp hangs from the ceiling, against a background of several framed black and white artworks mounted on pristine white walls. Bahl managed to enhance the effect of mood lighting throughout this space in a simple, but effective way: “I eliminated a lot of lights to have it coming mainly from the lamps as well as from the hanging light. I also added lots of plants both inside and outside to create warmth.” In one of her recent Instagram stories, Parineeti Chopra shared a snapshot of her meal (a plate full of idlis), which also gave us a peek at her not-so-basic indigo ceramic plates.

Not too far away from Parineeti Chopra's sitting and dining room lies the actor's special television corner, which one can also consider as her den. Unlike most homes, where the den brings together dark colours and stacks of DVDs, Chopra's entertainment spot champions an all-white palette. A large flat screen sits perched above a small white console containing gadgets and other curios, facing the actor's ivory couches. Wooden flooring adds an earthy touch to this corner.

Just like the inside of her home, Parineeti Chopra’s balcony follows a minimal, fuss-free aesthetic. Plants of varying types and sizes are held in a mix of ceramic and earthen pots, while occasional accessories such as a wooden lounge chair, lanterns, and a Buddha figurine have been spotted in the space via the actor’s social media posts. A distant view of the Mumbai skyline and gorgeous sunsets makes the area the perfect meditative spot for the actor.
